Biljana Djurdjević: Dark Is The Forest

Programme | 06.11.2012
Biljana Djurdjević: Dark Is The Forest

Gallery-Legacy of Milica Zorić & Rodoljub Čolaković, 2 Rodoljub Čolaković St.
November 6, 2012 - January 14, 2013.

In the current exhibition the artist Biljana Djurdjević present three of her latest paintings, one of them being the polyptych Dark Is the Forest, from which the exhibition derived its name. alongside her paintings, for the first time the artist will put out before the audience her work realised through a new technique of animation. In consistency with the previous work by Biljana Djurdjević, that indubitably stems from the study of the classical craftmanship of painting, its motifs and patterns, the concept for this exhibition was forged taking as its parting point a 15th-century incunabulum dealing with the interpersonal relations and philosophy. The selfsame principles expounded in the incunabulum can still relate to the present-day matters.

BIljana Djurdjević (b. 1973) graduated in 1997 from the Faculty of Fine arts in Belgrade. She obtained her M.a. degree from the same faculty.

From 1998 on, she had single shows in Belgrade as well as in other artistic centres of europe, in Bulgaria, Slovenia, Germany and Sweden. From 2002 on, she took part in a large number of collective exhibitions around the globe, among others, in Greece, albania, Spain, Germany, Italy, austria, Switzerland, France, Norwey, russia, China, USa and australia.
The artist is based in Belgrade, and as of 2009 teaches at the Faculty of Fine arts.
