ŠKART: DOMUZEJ 1/homuseum 1 (provisional dwelling place)

Gallery-legacy of Milica Zorić i Rodoljub Čolaković, 2 Rodoljuba Čolakovića St.
March 28 – April 9, 2012

> occupation of public institutions by activists and artists lacking working and housing facilities (and by volunteering guests)

In the framework of the international conference (Graphic) Designer: Author or Universal Soldier, the art collective Škart held open-access workshops at the Legacy of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković under the title DOMUSEUM 1 (HOMUSEUM 1). The art collective Škart combines diverse experiences: poetry, graphic design, architecture, performance, social engagement, and they performed their “samizdat/samodat” (selfpublished/selfgiven) street actions throughout the world, from Belgium to Korea. During the conference the Čolaković Legacy, apart from its being an exhibiting venue, also became a site for producing, learning and creating. With their friends from the region and abroad, the group’s members lived and created at the gallery itself, welcoming visitors to take an active part in these activities.

At the exhibition accompanying the workshop various documents from their previous projects are presented.

ŠKART (scarto/rejects/ausschus) art collective was created in 1990 in an abandoned graphic studio at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. Through permanent productive conflict going on within the group new possibilites of cross-over and application of different media, from poetry to music, samizdat and performance, design and activism, are put to the test.

The project “Architecture of interhuman relations” initiated various activities: Horkeškart, choir “Proba”, “Ženske i muške vezilje” (Fe/male knitters), “Pesničenje” (Punching Poetry).
